As I watch my 14 month old stumble around the house, I am reminded of the importance of slowing down. My daughter has decided that running is the best way to get to where she wants to go, even though she falls many times along the way. Her choice of movement reminds me of myself, and many others around the holiday season. We tend to move chaotically from one place to the next, often forgetting things, stepping on the toes of others, bumping into our surroundings, becoming easily agitated, and giving into impatience. We are so concerned about getting to our destination, that we forget to appreciate the journey. Take time for yourself so that you can continue to give to others. My yoga instructor said the other day “you cannot give from an empty vessel”. This really resonated with me. As a stay at home mom, my life literally revolves around my daughter. Although it has taken me awhile, I’ve learned that when I take time for myself I am able to give more. Finding my center allows me to fill my vessel. I invite you to do the same. When is the last time you felt complete bliss? Can you identify something that makes you feel complete, worthy, purposeful, and happy? Think of this thing, hold it dear, and come back to it when you find yourself stumbing through life. Slow down, appreciate time spent, and be mindful.
